Guru krupo
Happy signs are here again. Guru's songs are on the net with explanations, which to a large extent needs to be explained. Of course, all the sayings of great men take on different meanings depending on the reader's or perceiver's depth of knowledge and feelings.
Somehow the greats of Sourashtra community have their gurus in a special place. Sri Venkataramana Bhagavathar, the prime disciple of one of Carnatic trinity Sri Thiayyaga Brahmam, had sung Guru saranam bhajare Manasa guru saranam bhajare, eulogising his guru. No doubt that is a great song, but this song guru dhyan kari monnu is perhaps the ultimate, to my perception. The song has cleared all my doubts about the meaning of life. What else does one need? What I couldn't comprehend from vedas, this six stanza song has done it for me, apparently because of guru's krupo. The sequence of the song has deeper meanings. The annu pallavi reveals the truth. As a whole the song underlines the guru's sojourn into the known unkown in the right direction.
The key word in the pallavi is sat (meaning true). Who is a true guru? Saints say a guru is not the one you go to and surrender, rather it is the one who comes on his own to give his blessings (deetcha). When will he come, none know but our duty is to chant Om nammom narayana nammohom.
The keys words in the annu pallavi are duvaiya sarama slokunn. duvaiya means dual or two —atma and paramatma. Sarama slokum is what God Krishna told arjuna when he was at the worst crisis of his life on the opening day of the battle of Bharatha.
The four stanzas of saranam denote the four stages of journey — physical, emotional, mental and spiritual or sub-conscious. Kade jat soga pode is the state of samadhi. One can easily co-relate these stages with mother, father, guru and god. There is a misconception that mother is more than a god. Not so, she is the first stage, then comes father, the guru and the last stage is god.
The explanation keeps expanding as the universe. So the more you understand and follow this song, the closer you go to God, the lord who is reclining on the bed of adisesha amidst milky ocean, which are physical expressions of kundalini, kapala sarppam and the amritham that sustains the life of great saints who are in a state of samadhi.
There is Sriman natanagopala nayagi swamigals webpage which has almost everything one wants to know about the guru, including keerthanans sung by TMS, TMC, TKR, V. Nagarajan, V K Neelarao, Geetha Bharathi party and TRR. A treat for all.

Respected Mr. K.P.Subramanian,

Thank you for your very kind words on the song.

//Happy signs are here again. Guru's songs are on the net with explanations, which to a large extent needs to be explained. Of course, all the sayings of great men take on different meanings depending on the reader's or perceiver's depth of knowledge and feelings. //

Yes thats right. But with the guidance of persons like you we will acheive some more knowledge.

This words are new to me. I have read some songs of Venkatasuri, venkataramanar. But the words are some thing difficult. I also gone through the sourashtra thirukkural that too also having some difficult words. But when their meanings gives its good direction

// The sequence of the song has deeper meanings. The annu pallavi reveals the truth. As a whole the song underlines the guru's sojourn into the known unknown in the right direction.

Before a couple of month I was chatting with a person. He asked me who is guru? I replied to him for me may be you, Who knows he may be any one, for some he is his own wife, or may be his own disciple, or his own father, it depends on the person. There is no need that the neighbor's guru is my guru. It depends on every person's life past, present and even future.

//The keys words in the annu pallavi are duvaiya sarama slokunn. duvaiya means dual or two -atma and paramatma. Sarama slokum is what God Krishna told arjuna when he was at the worst crisis of his life on the opening day of the battle of Bharatha.

This song is taken from the site only. I took a print of the song and retyped it in the blog. I have created some tools which reads the Tamil characters (super scripted 2,3,4) and rewrites it into Hindi and English.

Thank you again for your comment and attendance. Kindly give your thoughts for the other songs also.

Guru krupo,
I would like to clear you on Guru. Generally people think it is easier to get a guru. They think that by attending discourses or bhajans or concerts of people who live an acetic life they can become the disciple of that particular 'saint'. Partly that could be true, but the 'saint' or 'noble person' how ever great will not and can't become your guru, unless and until he is tuned in to your 'wavelength'. It is also said and I heard from 'oldiyans' or elderly people that a saint can have only a limited number of people as his disciple. Unless the wavelength matches, the guru would not be in a position to activate the kundalini chakra with his blessings and deeksha. That is not enough, the saint has to be there all along to guide the disciple through the kundalini journey to kapalam and the resultant 'amrita yogam'. I am told that people who try kundalini shakthi without a proper guide or guru, become mentally imbalanced. So if there is a will of god that you should get a guru (sat guru as our guru says) he will descend on to your place. The disciple will never go in search of him.
About difficulty in reading Venkatasuri, Venkataramana Bhagavathar and Lal's thirukkural, they are all scholars oriented in sanskrit. Both Venkatasuri and Venkataramana bhagavathar have sung limited number of songs in Sourashtram and as their dialect is bit different, you might be encountering the problem. Besides, Venkatsuri has used the telugu script to write Sourashtra. We can easily wipe out all these problems in one stroke if we had all these treasures in audio mode. I have been asking people in Madurai to try to have all these in CDs, including the priceless Sourashtra gita by K V Padmanabha Iyer, one of the giants of sourashtra literature, only to an extent less than our trinities Venkataramana Bhagavathar, Natanagopal and Venkatasuri. If you can spare some time why don't you take some interest in getting people into this worthwhile project with which our posterity will remember us forever.
